Space—Light—Structure: The Jewelry of Margaret De Patta
In 2008, Ms. Muñiz was introduced to the untouched archives of mid-century jewelry designer Margaret De Patta. Never before seen or organized, the archives included sketches, photographs, letters, notebooks, and jewelry made by the artist from her earliest days as an art student up to her untimely death in 1964. Collaborating with Museum of Arts and Design curator Ursula Ilse-Neuman, Ms. Muñiz undertook a four-year project to research the archives and curate an exhibition and publication on this important designer. The exhibition opened at the Oakland Museum of California in February 2012 before traveling to New York later that year.
