The Brian & Edith Heath Foundation

In 2015, Julie began an ongoing collaboration with the Brian & Edith Heath Foundation to curate, manage, and oversee their immense collection of historical ceramics. The Foundation, a not-for-profit organization formed from the estate of Edith Heath, held thousands of pieces in need of curatorial research, organization, and preservation. Her efforts paved the way for a ground-breaking exhibition and publication on the legacy of Edith Heath.

COLLECTION MANAGEMENT

Using my deep understanding of museum standards, I anticipated the needs of future curators and researchers to create an online database for easy searching and tracking of collection data. Over a 5+ year period, I cataloged, photographed, housed, and created records for thousands of pieces of historical ceramics.

RESEARCH

Diving deep into the historical archives, I conducted the most comprehensive research to-date of Heath Ceramic’s 75+ year production history. Analyzing company records, historical records, clippings, and exhibition history, I formulated and refined a historical timeline useful for object dating.
